Good Morning First Graders!!

Mother's Day: 
  • I have posted a file in google classroom for you to do a surprise for your mom for Mother's Day. Don't ask her for any of the answers. Write what you think is the answer. You can work on this today and tomorrow. Ask your dad if you need help. ;)
Reading:
  • Groundhog page 128 -- read each sentence and add -ly or -ful to each word that you see at the end of the sentence. Make sure that you read it so that it makes sense.
  • Groundhog book page 129
  • IXL --- First Grade -- Language Arts -- Q. 2. Diphthongs:oi, oy, ou, ow
  • Read to a stuffed animal or doll for 20 minutes. 
Spelling:
  • Cow Book page 100
  • Choose one activity everyday to study your spelling words this week (use a stick to write your spelling words in the dirt, put rice or baking flour on a cookie tray and practice writing your words in it, write silly sentences for each of your spelling words, write your words with chalk in your driveway, use letters cut from a newspaper or magazine to make your spelling words, write a story using all of your spelling words and underline all of your words, write your spelling words with pink consonants and green vowels, say your spelling words while doing jumping jacks).
  • Test tomorrow.

  • Make a list of objects that are more, less, or equal to one pound.
  • Do pages 431-432
  • Challenge: Find five objects and order them from lightest to heaviest.

  • Write one or more sentences about why Eleanor Roosevelt was a good citizen.
  • Optional Challenge: Eleanor Roosevelt received many letters from children. I want you to imagine that Eleanor Roosevelt is the First Lady today. Write a letter telling her a problem that you think needs her attention.
