Happy St. Patrick's Day!!!

I hope everyone had a good day yesterday! This type of learning is new to all of us....parents, students and teachers. We just need to remember to take one day at a time and a lot of deep breaths! We can do this together!

Reading:

  • Practice book pages 75 (adding -ed, -er and -est) & 76 (pick a word from box to finish each sentence). You will find these pages in "The Dot" reading section.
  • Think about our "Annie Adjective" poster in the classroom that we were working with last week. Remember an adjective describes a noun. For example: green shirt, pretty flower
  • Do adjectives for colors and shapes worksheet (2 sided) in "The Dot" packet.
  • Read a book from home or Raz Kids for 30 minutes today. Keep up the great work reading....I can see that many of you were busy working on Raz Kids yesterday!! :)

Spelling:

  • workbook page 78 (long e:ea). You will find these spelling pages separately. They are not with "The Dot" reading pages.

Writing Journal:

  • Imagine you and a friend find a pot of gold during recess. What would you do? (Write in complete sentences on your next writing journal page in the packet that I gave you. Write at least 3 sentences and draw a picture.)

Math:

  • Yesterday, you looked at nickels and pennies. Today, you are going to look at dimes and pennies. Dimes are worth 10 cents. So, pennies are 1 cent, nickels are 5 cents and dimes are 10 cents.
  • https://jr.brainpop.com/ Go to this link which is Brain Pop Jr. At the top of the page, click on "LogIn". Our class username is: firstgradenovak. The password is: novak1. Click on Math section and watch video on Dollar and Cents. You can take the easy quiz after you watch the short video.
  • Do workbook pages 355-356

Scholastic Newsletter:

  • Take out the "Welcome to Ireland" newsletter from your folder. Log into Scholastic News as a student. https://sn1.scholastic.com/ Our password is: firstgradenovak
  • Then find the March issue of "Welcome to Ireland". You can then watch 2 videos: "Happy St. Patrick's Day" and "Lucky Leprechauns". You might even want to try playing the online game "Fill the Pot with Gold".
  • Read the newsletter and answer questions (front and back). You will find the newsletter and question paper in your folder.

Religion:
  • Continue working on St. Patrick's worksheets throughout the week.
  • Practice Singing  "My Forever Friend" song. You will find it on youtube  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iOql1c-Ytjg  After listening, think about what a great friend Jesus is to all of us.
