Good Morning First Graders!!

Reading: This week we will be working on the story called "The Dot". You will find the reading pages and worksheets in the paper clip under that heading. Please do these today:

  • Do Pages 73 & 74
  • The Dot Word Search & Spelling Scramble (front and back of worksheet in folder)
  • Read a book or Raz Kids for 30 minutes. (Raz Kid log-in information is in your folder)

Writing Journal: How do you think you can catch a leprechaun? Explain, draw and label. Please make sure that you write in complete sentences. Remember your capital letter in the beginning of the sentence and your period at the end. Use the writing journal paper that I sent home in your folder. You can also color the cover of the writing journal.

Spelling: page 77 writing each spelling word two times each. (This is not in the paper clipped Reading The Dot section. It is a separate stapled section.)

Math:

  • Please take out 5 pennies and 3 nickels. What color is each coin? Which coin is bigger? What famous person is on the penny? Who is on the nickel?
  • Each penny = 1 cent. Count out the 5 pennies.
  • The five pennies = 1 nickel. A nickel is 5 cents.
  • Count out the 3 nickels  --- 5,10, 15. You are counting by 5's.
  • If we wanted to add up our coins, we always start by adding with the coin that has the greatest value. Count out 1 nickel and 3 pennies. Count out 2 nickels and 2 pennies. Count out 3 nickels and 5 pennies. How much did you get for each?
  • Do Pages 353-354

Religion: St. Patrick's Day Packet --- you will find this packet in your folder. Please work on it throughout this week.

Here are some Brain Break Movements you can do in between doing your schoolwork.

We would normally have Art Class today in school. Here is what Mrs. Viggiano posted that you could do:
Go to youtube.com, find Art for Kids Hub to watch a video on How to Draw a Funny Cheeseburger.  Students should follow the steps and draw their own cheeseburger, adding their own special details to complete the picture.

Have a Marvelous Monday!
